Self Sign-up a Huge Success.

On May 31st, 20/20 Communications implemented a self sign-up method for people able to access the Wireless Washtenaw signal in the current three Wireless Washtenaw hotspots.

Without advertising or even mentioning it in these updates, 40 people signed up for the free service, 17 for the $20 mobile service, one (1) for the $15 weekly service and two (2) for the $8 day service.

Now there were some problems.

What we thought was self explanatory in the sign-up process turned out to be confusing to some. Some people signed up for paid service when they wanted the free service. We immediately contacted everybody who signed up to verify the service they selected was the one they wanted. We’ve modified the process to avoid this from happening again.

Also, the new user name standard requires a customer to use the full domain name when logging in. ex username@2020ww.net. Many people were not entering the @2020ww.net after their self selected user name.

Since my last update on June 6th, 175 people have acquired a Wireless Washtenaw account through self sign-up: 22 mobile 500k, 146 free 84k, 5 daily and 3 weekly.
